Aidan Ripp to Compete in the Nordic Combined at the USA Nordic Sport National Championships

PAUL SMITHS, NY—Paul Smith’s College student-athlete Aidan Ripp is jumping into the 2023 Nordic Combined season this weekend at the USA Nordic Sport National Championships. The event is being billed as “Jumpapalooza” with two days of competition on the newly renovated jumps at the Intervale Jumping Complex in Lake Placid. Performing well at the USA Nordic Sport National Championships will help Ripp qualify to represent the USA Nordic team for the Nordic combined at the upcoming World University Games which will take place in Lake Placid in January.

“Speaking on behalf of the entire Paul Smith’s College community, we’re rooting for our phenomenal student- athlete, Aidan Ripp, as he competes for a spot in the upcoming World University Games,” said President Nicholas Hunt-Bull. “Students, like Aidan, have these opportunities because of Paul Smith’s College’s partnership with USA Nordic, a one-of-a-kind partnership that links a world class education to world class training.”

Ripp, a biology major from Cloquet, MN, will be looking to pick up where he left off last year, which proved to be a historic season highlighted by an 11th place finish at the U.S. Olympic Trials, winning the USCSA Individual National Championship and leading the Paul Smith’s College team to their first ever combined men’s team National Championship. Ripp also had stellar performances in Bejing, China at the FIS Continental Cup hosted last December with top 25 finishes in those international events.

“It’s been a solid start to the fall and it was great to get some high-quality racing in right here in the Adirondacks last weekend in the Castle Conquest,” stated Ripp. “I’m super proud of how the entire time that competed performed and I feel great with my results. I’m really excited to continue the momentum and participate in the USA Nordic Championships this week in Lake Placid. With the World University Games just over a hundred days away, I’m hoping to perform well and earn a spot on the US Team.”
