PSC now offers students from all programs the opportunity to earn credit for doing relevant work experience. Students who are interested and eligible can work with their Academic Advisors or any member of the Center for Academic & Career Success to determine if the Internship Experience Course makes sense for their degree plan using the information outlined below.
Is the Internship Experience course a good fit for you?
- You are a current sophomore or higher and have at least a 2.50 GPA.
- You have open LD elective or UD elective credits available (60 work hours = 1 credit).
- Students can earn up to 6 credits for one internship experience and are limited to 9 overall credits for all combined internship experiences.
- You have secured employment or are intending to obtain employment, either part-time or full-time, during your enrollment (can be taken fall, spring or summer semesters).
- Volunteer or unpaid positions are eligible for consideration so long as they comply with the Department of Labor and NYS requirements for unpaid internships.
- CACS can help you identify and apply for appropriate internship options
- You can identify a suitable Faculty Mentor whose expertise qualifies them to evaluate the learning outcomes of your work experience.
- You are able to identify the benefit of doing an internship and are able to make connections between your internship position and your program of study/career goals.
Additional information to consider?
- Internship credit is billed at $360 per credit
- Internship credit taken over the summer will be billed upon enrollment. Students are eligible to use Pell and NYS TAP without exhausting annual limits. Students can also use Federal Loans, however, they may fall short in the spring semester.
- Students must have internet access and will need to complete weekly coursework in Canvas.
- Faculty Mentors will be compensated and will be required to review student assignments submitted through Canvas.
- The Center for Academic & Career Success will provide administrative support for students and faculty mentors by processing all paperwork, maintaining records and managing the Canvas course content.

No student will be enrolled in the Internship Experience Course without submitting a complete Learning Agreement signed by their Faculty Mentor and Department Chair.
