I’m a welcome week peer leader; a tutor for biology, genetics, and in the writing center; an SI leader for biology; and a co-president of PSC Pride. I thoroughly enjoy every one of my leadership positions on this campus. I think that it’s important for students to participate in extracurriculars that include leadership; not only does it help us develop communication and problem solving skills (to name a few) for future employment, it also enhances our experience as students. On the flip side, it’s beneficial for students who do not hold leadership positions to see their peers have so much fun while still being responsible and helpful. I think it encourages a comfortable attitude towards professionalism and trying new things.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite place on campus is upstairs in the library.

What is one piece of advice or information that you’d give to your fellow students?

My advice to fellow students is, if you’re thinking about trying something new, just do it. Your comfort zone is your limiting zone.

What is one piece of advice or information that you’d give to faculty and staff?

My advice to professors is, listen to your students. They know what you do well and what you need to improve on. Collectively, they know more than you do. Listen.

My name is Emma Squires and I have been a Peer Educator at Paul Smith’s College for two years now. I took this job because I wanted to be able to make a difference, help students on this campus, and have the best possible experience here.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite place on campus would probably have to be The Point or, more strongly, President’s Point on a clear night to best enjoy the stars we have up here.

What is one piece of advice or information that you’d give to your fellow students?

A piece of advice I would like to convey to my fellow students is to get involved in campus life! If you’re involved in the different things that go on, your experience is going to be a lot better – and this is spoken out of personal experience.

What is one piece of advice or information that you’d give to faculty and staff?

A piece of advice I would like to convey to faculty and staff is to just keep doing you and being approachable for students! (Also your dogs are all pure and precious and should spend more time on campus.)

My name is Nathan Hallatt. I`m a Baking Arts Service Management student and the treasurer of the SGA. Jill Susice once asked me if I would be interested in running for SGA Treasurer. I think the reason she asked me to take up the treasurer’s position was because she knew that I was really good at math, and I love it.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite place on campus would have to be Jill`s apartment because when the programming board all has some free time we go over there to watch movies and sometimes play games.

What is one piece of advice or information that you’d give to your fellow students?

Some good advice for students would probably be to have a good time, join a club, and make new friends, but make sure that school comes first. It is very easy to get involved and then you forget to take care of your school work which is why you’re at PSC in the first place.

What is one piece of advice or information that you’d give to faculty and staff?

The staff here at PSC is great and they are more than willing to help students, but the students must go and find them. They can’t find you! I feel that it’s amazing to what length the professors are willing to go for their students! So to all of the professors out there reading this, just keep up the great work that you are doing!
