By Tiffany E.M. Clark
Robin sat on Grandpa’s lap
peered at birds
fluttering back and forth to their nestled young.
Their songs a symphony since dawn.
“Ready to go, sunshine?”
Grandpa threw his hat like a Frisbee
Robin sprang from his lap,
caught the straw disc,
and smiled at her success.
Robin flew towards the garden
and Grandpa followed,
his hands cupped the bag of bird seed.
Each scooped seeds and dusted the trees.
Together they sat on the porch step
while leaves batted against the wind.
Robin sipped lemonade.
Grandpa closed his eyes, humming a song on this Spring day.
