Blue Skies and Black Flies is the Apollos’ version of “Cheers and Jeers”, heard of it?  We cheer the things that make this campus great, and jeer the less-than-stellar. Blue Skies, good. Black Flies, not-so-much. We welcome compliments, complaints, rants and raves of all things PSC.

Blue Skies!

A big Blue Sky to the owners and staff who have helped reopen and revitalize the store formerly known as the Brighton Mini Mart! The Adirondack Market & Deli has been killin’ it. Last semester without a nearby store was rough for Smitties, and having our little wilderness outpost back has been such a convenience. Oh, and a double Blue Sky for keeping the beer selection strong.

Black Flies…

Remember a minute ago when we celebrated Google Map and Waze? We might have jumped the gun a little – this tool only works when people use it and here in the ‘Dacks few seem to. Get with the times, people, and use a phone to flash your lights!

Blue Skies!

Happy to see the creation of a Campus Advocacy Response and Education (CARE) program. The campus-wide  CARE team is tasked in creating a holistic and sustainable prevention and response model to reduce sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking at Paul Smith’s College. Click here to read more about the CARE program.

Black Flies…

It’s sad to see that we lost some quality faculty members over the summer. There were some promising folks that are now gone, and no matter the reason they left, their presence will be missed. That’s not to say that I’m not excited about the new crop!

Blue Skies!

We’re new to the idea of celebrating a big tech buyout, but Google’s acquisition of Waze means more people have the ability to report construction delays or speed traps. We don’t advocate speeding or using a phone while you drive, but hey, it’s nice to know when a State Trooper is tucked away at the bottom of Easy Street before driving by.

Black Flies…

Active Shooter…  Did you like that, did you enjoy how that felt when you looked at this!? Yeah, neither did I when the email notification on my phone read “Active Shooter…” Yeah… If you could title it “Awareness and Preparedness Training Presentations and Drills: Active Shooter” next time, that would be great.
