This one goes out to modern society
Where the 1% is the new democracy
And the individual suffocates on their silent screams
Standing in the line that conformity streams
We’re stuck in a cycle of hypocrisy
Asphyxiating on the vomit of insincerity
Our teeth cracking on the gag that fills the collective mouth
Everything seems to be heading south
Beauty is bliss marinated in pain
It’s the ability to express without refrain
Thanks, Society, for this breeding ground of distrust
Where human interaction has long since begun to rust
Every morning we have to paint on our poker face
Just so we’re not disqualified from the human race
Rats, running around looking for the cheese
We’re force-fed the lies that our life does seize
We value capitalism, consumerism and imperialism
We’re strapping our arms shooting ourselves up with every fu**ing kind of –ism
What about love, hope and camaraderie?
I guess we’re stuck in this rhyming hegemony
We’ve waved goodbye to compassion, trust and care
Our hearts are left medium-rare
We’re stuck on the human ego of superiority
Looking down on all the other organisms in their inferiority
Yet we’re the ones constantly finding ways to stab each other in the back
When they live every day for the good of the pack
Beauty is acceptance and the genuine desire
To lift each other up and to inspire
Excuse me, abuse me, f**k me from behind
Isn’t that the mentality you want me to keep in my mind?
You put down all these rules to try to keep me in line
Their audacity and stupidity just end up blowing my mind
The government does nothing but blow the corporations
That constantly send out their tidy little notifications
Saying “Sorry, you’re no longer able to feed your families
We’re sending your livlihood to some destitute mother fu**er from over-seas”
Beauty is where there is no famine of body or spirit
Our collective conscience, it’s about time we clear it
These straps that hold me in this conventional bondage
Are so fu**ing tight blood weeps from the clear cut message
Every year they cinch in a little more
Forcing me to be the big man’s gimped little whore
They have us trapped in an unavoidable cage
Even when we try to jump off the shopper’s stage
We all know we can never fully escape
Is this our species’ intended fate?
Beauty is the access to human rights
Without the “undesirables” being lost in the unnecessary fights
Creativity used to flow through these fingertips
But they’ve been amputated and used to sew together my questioning lips
Haven’t you heard mutilation is the name of today’s game?
Don’t you know not everyone’s supposed to be the same?
We’re beaten, abused and made to feel weak
And told we just have to turn the other cheek
While the elite swim in our blood, sweat and tears
Feeding into and off the common man’s fears
Beauty is a state of perception
But we’re lost in a world of deception
